Accessibility Statement
Last updated: October 16, 2026
The Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Arizona is committed to making this website accessible to as many visitors as possible, including people with disabilities. This statement describes our approach, the measures we have taken, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.
Accessibility Commitment
We want everyone who visits this website to be able to find consular information, prepare for an appointment, and book a visit with ease. We continually work to improve the usability and accessibility of the site and welcome feedback from visitors.
Accessibility Approach
We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as a goal for this website. WCAG is a set of recommendations designed to make web content more accessible. We reference Level AA as a target we are working toward; this statement is not a claim of verified compliance or formal certification.
Measures Taken
The following accessibility features are currently implemented on this website:
- Semantic HTML structure for headings, navigation, and page regions.
- Keyboard navigation support for menus, links, and interactive controls.
- Visible focus indicators for keyboard users.
- Descriptive alt text for content images.
- Color contrast chosen to support readable text against white backgrounds.
- Responsive layouts that adapt to desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.
- An English/German translation widget to help visitors read content in their preferred language.
- Interactive preparation checklists that can be printed or downloaded.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review the website periodically and work to address issues as they are identified. Improvements may be made as technology, content, and feedback evolve.
Known Limitations
While we strive for accessibility, some areas of the website depend on third-party services that we do not fully control. These include:
- The third-party appointment booking platform embedded on the Book Appointment page. Its accessibility depends on the booking provider and may not fully match the standards we apply to our own pages.
- The embedded Google Map on the Contact page, which is provided by Google and follows Google's own accessibility implementation.
- The translation widget, which generates translated content automatically and may not always produce accessible or fully accurate output.
- Linked external websites, including official German government resources, which are governed by their own accessibility practices.
If you are unable to use the booking widget due to an accessibility barrier, please contact us by email and we will help you schedule an appointment by an alternative method.
Requesting Assistance or Reporting an Issue
If you have difficulty using this website, or if you notice an accessibility issue, please let us know. Email phoenix@hk-diplo.de with a description of the issue and the page where you encountered it. We will review your message and work to address the problem. Please do not include sensitive personal data such as passport numbers in your message.
